Our Commitment to Privacy

URSAQR is designed with privacy in mind. All QR code generation happens entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. The content you encode (URLs, WiFi credentials, contact details, etc.) never leaves your device.

Important distinction: While your QR content stays in-browser, the page itself loads resources from third-party services (analytics, advertising, fonts, and CDN libraries - listed below). These services may process your IP address and browsing context under their own privacy policies. Your QR data - the URLs, text, and images you encode - is never sent to these third parties.

What We Collect

We collect minimal, anonymized usage data to improve the site. Specifically:

  • Google Analytics - anonymized page views, browser type, and approximate location (country/city level). IP addresses are anonymized. This data helps us understand which features are popular and prioritize improvements.
  • Google AdSense - uses cookies to serve relevant ads. See our Cookie Policy for details.

We do NOT collect or store: QR code content you generate, uploaded logo images, names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information through the generator.

What We Do NOT Collect

Because all QR generation runs in your browser, we never receive or store:

  • The URLs, text, or data you encode into QR codes
  • Images you upload for logo overlays or custom templates
  • Your IP address (Google Analytics uses anonymized IPs)
  • Your precise location

There are no user accounts, no databases, no backend servers. Your session data exists only in your browser and is cleared when you close the page.

Local Storage

URSAQR uses your browser's localStorage for two purposes:

  • Theme preference - remembers your dark/light mode choice
  • Feedback widget - stores a timestamp so we don't ask for feedback too often

No personally identifiable information is stored in localStorage. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.

Third-Party Services

URSAQR loads resources from the following third-party services:

  • Google Analytics (analytics.google.com) - anonymized usage analytics
  • Google AdSense (pagead2.googlesyndication.com) - advertising
  • Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) - web fonts
  • Cloudflare CDN (cdnjs.cloudflare.com) - qrcodejs, html2canvas, JSZip libraries

Each of these services operates under their own privacy policies. We do not control what they log. Loading these resources may expose your IP address to these providers under standard internet operations.

Cookies

URSAQR itself does not set cookies. However, Google Analytics and Google AdSense set cookies for analytics and advertising purposes. Please see our Cookie Policy for a complete list and instructions on how to control or disable them.

Our site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their policies independently.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
